About Off-Trail On Purpose

With so much at stake, College Advisors are here to help.

Remember the first time you held your child, this little being with endless possibilities. In between waves of love, you realized, “This just got real.”  For years, you’ve celebrated and cried with each step and tumble. And now it’s time to help this child prepare for college.

But things have changed since you were 17. Textbook costs have increased over 1,000% in 30 years. Students can choose from over 1,800 majors.  In 2016, the average student debt load hit $37,173. Only 39% of students complete a bachelors degree in 4 years or less.

We guide you around the obstacles that frustrate too many students & parents.

We work with:

  • High school students
  • College students
  • Non-traditional college students
  • Those who left college without earning a degree
  • College graduates

How we work:

With technology, we can work with students anywhere.

By jumping on the phone or live video chat, students can easily fit our sessions in their busy lives. For clients in the Asheville area, we love to work in person, too.

We look at the big picture and
advocate for your child’s best interest.

We never tell our clients what to do. Our role is to provide the information to help our clients make productive decisions and enter the world with confidence.

We help our clients in their college planning by providing

 Leslie Frey

began Off-Trail On Purpose College Advisors in 2014 to solve a problem. In speaking with parents of college students, she heard a pattern. Parents shared that their kids did well in high school. After a few semesters in college, though, they dropped out. The parents almost always used the same phrase: my kid is lost with no direction.

As an educator with over 16 years experience with adolescents, she began creating a new approach to help students find direction. Leslie uses research-proven methods she has gathered with:
